Promoters of Cuba Decide and members of UNPACU called for solidarity and resistance, given the constant repression of the dictatorship. They summoned citizens on the Island and abroad to carry a sunflower on Sunday September 8, as a demonstration of freedom by exercising the human right of peaceful demonstration.
In the city of Miami, the call was at the Ermita de la Caridad. More than 200 people from the Cuban and the international community gathered to denounce the repression that some days before this call had increased considerably in Cuba, especially against members of UNPACU and promoters of Cuba Decide. In the Ermita, many artists, politicians, influencers and citizens gathered together to show their support for the Cuban people and the rejection of the dictatorship. More than 128 people were arrested in Cuba during the days before the call, in a display of fear on behalf of the regime, which during those days received the visit of Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. Her visit that caused controversy among members of the European Union, since it was a declaration of support by the European diplomacy towards a dictatorship that during the visit imprisoned and tortured dozens of citizens for exercising their right to peacefully demonstrate.
