D20 Conference on the International Day of Democracy

The alternative conference to the T20 «The G20 and the challenges to the globalization of democracy» was held in the auditorium of the CEMA University and had as speakers Luis Alberto Romero, Loris Zanatta, Norma Morandini, Rosa María Payá, Rodrigo Diamanti, Raúl Ferro, Leandro Querido and Gabriel Salvia.

The activity was organized by CADAL, Transparencia Electoral, Cuba Decide and the Venezuelan NGO Sin Mordaza.

The first panel «Economic development without democracy?» It was moderated by Sybil Rhodes, President of CADAL and Director of the Career of Political Science and International Relations of UCEMA, and had as speakers the historians Luis Alberto Romero and Loris Zanatta, the journalist Raúl Ferro and the political scientist Leandro Querido.

The second panel «The Universal Declaration on Democracy and international solidarity in the defense of human rights» was moderated by Irene Caballero, Alternate Member of Uruguay, and featured presentations by Rosa María Payá, promoter of Cuba Decide; Norma Morandini, journalist and head of the Human Rights Observatory of the Senate of the Argentine Nation; Rodrigo Diamanti, head of the NGO Sin Mordaza / Venezuela; and Gabriel Salvia, General Director of CADAL.

SECOND PANEL:

Second panel of the conference: «The Universal Declaration on Democracy and international solidarity in the defense of human rights.» Exhibitions by Gabriel C. Salvia, General Director of CADAL; Rodrigo Diamanti, President of Un Mundo sin Mordaza; Rosa María Payá, promoter of Cuba Decide and Norma Morandini, Director of the Observatory of Human Rights of the Senate of the Nation. This panel was moderated by Irene Caballero, substitute deputy of Uruguay.
