TRAVELER ALERT: The Truth About the Health Crisis in Cuba

COLLABORATE AS A VOLUNTEER OR WITH YOUR DONATION SO THAT “CUBA DECIDE” CAN CONTINUE FIGHTING FOR THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE OF THE CUBAN PEOPLE.

The CDC has issued an urgent Level 2 alert. While the elite in power diverts resources to luxury hotels, the Cuban people and visitors face an unprecedented epidemiological crisis, marked by the negligence of a regime that has abandoned public health.

OUT-OF-CONTROL EPIDEMICS: THE COST OF INEPTITUDE

The Cuban regime has been unable to maintain basic fumigation and vector control programs. The result is a massive spread of:

  • Oropouche, Dengue and Zika: Without chemicals to fumigate or fuel for the equipment, mosquitoes have taken over the cities.
  • The lie of the “Medical Power”: There are no reagents for accurate diagnoses or effective containment protocols.

SCARCITY INDUCED BY CORRUPTION

While state resources are funneled into the accounts of the ruling elite, basic services have disappeared:

  • Without Drinking Water: The water infrastructure is in ruins due to lack of investment, forcing the consumption of contaminated water.
  • No Medicine: There are no aspirins, no antibiotics, no basic supplies. The village pharmacy is empty because the money is being spent on repression and political control.

HOSPITALS IN RUINS: MEDICAL CARE DENIED

The healthcare infrastructure has collapsed. Hospitals intended for ordinary citizens and unsuspecting travelers lack basic hygiene, a reliable electricity supply, and essential medical equipment.

The regime prefers to export doctors as modern-day slaves to obtain foreign currency, instead of guaranteeing health in its own territory.

SURVIVAL GUIDE (IF YOU DECIDE TO TRAVEL)

If travel is unavoidable, you should know that the Cuban state will not protect you . You are responsible for your own safety.

  • Bring your own pharmacy: You must import everything from cotton to broad-spectrum antibiotics.
  • Evacuation Insurance: Make sure your insurance covers immediate air transport to the U.S. or Mexico. Local hospitals are not equipped to handle serious emergencies.
  • Extreme Self-Protection: Use high concentration repellents and consume only processed foods outside the reach of the state network.

Warning: This page is based on reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and firsthand accounts of the crisis on the island. The Cuban regime uses tourism to finance its repressive apparatus while allowing its public services to wither away. Avoid non-essential travel.

From Cuba Decide, we promote a change in the political system on the island. A political system away from archaic socialism, authoritarianism, and indoctrination. We want, for Cuba, a model country that respects economic, social, and political freedom, where Cubans have real decision-making power.
