In the years after his death, Ernesto “Che” Guevara was vindicated worldwide. His face decorates t-shirts, sweaters, flags and there are even those who have him tattooed on their own skin. But we Cubans know his real story.
In 1958, “Che” Guevara, along with Fidel Castro and his guerrillas, invaded our country. His participation in the regime was key to Cuba’s rapprochement with the communist bloc, then led by the Soviet Union.
Guevara preached Marxism-Leninism and did not hesitate to defend it through violent and illegal tactics, such as murder or trials that lasted less than an hour and did not follow the due constitutional process.
He was a promoter of labor camps, known as Military Units to Aid Production, where homosexuals were imprisoned as part of a persecution strategy similar to communist practices in Eastern Europe, since Che considered homosexuality contrary to his ideal of a New Man.
These forced labor camps were true concentration camps, where the Cuban government adopted the Auschwitz motto “work will set you free,” replacing it with “work will turn you into men,” since the regime considered that continuous labor for many hours could heal homosexual behaviour.
People of different religions were also forced into these camps, such as the Catholic and the African religions; as well as political opponents. Anyone who was not a revolutionary or a communist was an enemy.
Che and the Revolution believed in killing for their cause: that is, for communist ideas. They believed that shooting opponents was the way to achieve the emancipation of the people, whom in reality they only oppressed more.
A faithful follower of Fidel Castro and his ideas for the communist revolution, Ernesto “Che” Guevara was one of the main promoters of the “revolution” that brought misery to our land. His actions were fundamental for the establishment of the Castro regime that has already been in power for 62 years.
He raised the flag of the “liberation of the people” but far from liberating it, he plunged the people into hunger and despair.
The revolutionary hero of the Castro regime that many defend now, was none other than an enemy of our people, who sentenced the entire country to a future of poverty, repression and censorship.
Che Guevara was not, is not, and will never be Cuba. Cuba is the people and the people have said ENOUGH. All the lies are now finally over and dictators and murderers will soon fall.
Cuba Decide promotes changing the Cuban political system through truly free and democratic elections, so that we Cubans could have our own representatives to walk together on the path of progress, as well as to leave behind an archaic model that does not allow Cubans to prosper.
